Attendance |
|
| It is very important that all children have good attendance at school. This is vital if they are to make the expected amount of progress. |
| It is important that we know your child is safe at home if s/he does not arrive at school in time for registration. If your child is absent through illness, telephone the school office before 9am on the first day of their absence. Please keep us informed of the progress of the illness and the likely length of absence. On return to school parents are required to write a letter of explanation, which will be recorded in the class register. If we are not informed of the reason for absence the register will be marked with
'unauthorised absence'. |
| Children are expected to be present in their classroom by the start of each registration session at 8.50am and 1.10pm. The register is closed 5 minutes after these times and a
'late' mark will be entered in the register. We will contact parents of children who are persistently late to try to ensure that they do not miss out on their education. |
| We must stress the importance of collecting your child from school at 3pm each day. We understand the pressures of working parents and finding suitable childcare after school. We have an excellent after school club called 'Allsorts'. For more information visit our Allsorts page. The Governors of the School have decided to charge those parents/carers of children that are not collected on time to cover the costs of school supervising the children after 3:00pm. For more information and details of the fees click on the link below to view a copy of our late collection charges letter. |

| Parents are strongly urged to avoid booking holidays during term time. If this is unavoidable, parents may apply to take up to 5 days of school time in the academic year to take their children on holiday during term time. Parents are required to complete a form, obtainable from the school office, two weeks in advance to request the period of absence. |
| Excellent attendance is rewarded on a termly basis when certificates are presented to those children achieving 98% attendance and above
- Bronze, silver and gold certificates are awarded throughout the year to recognize the effort children have made to be in school and on time. |

| Authorised absence is absence that has been authorised by the Headteacher. Parent or guardians may provide a reason for a given absence, but only the school can authorise it. |
| Unauthorised absence is absence that has not been authorised by the Headteacher. This includes unexplained or unjustified absences. |
