A day in Bletchley Park

This term Year 5 are studying World War II so on Wednesday 24th April 2013 we went to Bletchley Park which is the home of the code breakers. While we were there we got to see and touch an enigma machine which helped shorten the war by two years and helped Britain ultimately win. We saw examples of German and English toys and learnt that toys containing metal were not allowed to be sold during the war as metal was needed elsewhere. A lady called Joan, who was evacuated from Battersea during the war, talked to us about her experiences and nearly made some of us cry. The final activity was about radio and Morse code and we were the first group to experience the new exhibit. We all got to speak on the radio to some in a different country. It was a fantastic day.
