Looking with different eyes

This week is the internationally marked Refugee Week, and to help deepen our children's understanding of this important issue, Suzy, Alex and Vicky from the British Red Cross came and led Year 5 children in some activities. To begin with they had 5 minutes to decide on 8 items that they would need to pack if they had to flee a war zone quickly. And it all depended then on whether they would end up at a border (money very useful for bribing border guards), at a refugee camp (children handy because they have priority) or at an airport (passport really useful!).

The children responded very well and really enjoyed the challenges they faced.

If you want to see the work they did, you can download the workbook they used here, and see how you get on with the activities.
