Pilgrimage to Shenley

Following last year's successful walk to Holy Cross in Two Mile Ash, 25 Y5 children walked to St Mary's Church in Shenely Church End to learn about pilgrimage and to reflect on how we allow our lives to be changed. Using waymarks, bridges, door and gateways and a consideration of special or sacred spaces, the children collected thoughts about how their lives could change and what direction they were setting for them. Rev Nick helped the children explore the scriptures that surrounded John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, whilst others explored the sacred spaces in the church itself. For many the highlight was a time to be completely silent and thoughtful outside in the church yard.
