Today you need to finish your piece of writing you began yesterday, writing in role as the highwayman and thinking of an alternative ending to the story. Remember to read your work through carefully to edit and improve it.
We are going to continue to follow the activities provided by White Rose. Click here to visit the Year 6 area of their website. This is going to have a fractions focus. Today, you need to complete Summer Term Week 3 Lesson 4 (Mixed addition and subtraction).
Watch the video and then answer the questions by clicking here to download the worksheet. Don’t worry if you can’t print it, just write the answers in your home learning book.
There is also additional support on the BBC Bitesize website.
You can check your answers here.
If you would like to complete some additional work, you can look back through the problem solving activities we did not focus on during week 2.
Topic (History/ D&T)
Now you have some decorations, you need some food for a VE Day party!
Look at this for some recipe ideas you could have a go at making at home. You could also research other recipe ideas and make something inspired by the 1940s.
If you are unable to cook, find a collection of recipe ideas you could try another time or even adapt one and create your own. You could even plan out a menu for your ideal VE Day party.
Tomorrow, hold a celebration at home and look out for the national events you could join in with. A timetable of these can be found here.
Remember, Bletchley Park also have additional information about VE Day, how it impacted on them and what their plans are to celebrate the anniversary on their website. They will be marking the day online with a digital ‘Nation’s Toast’ at 3pm, and a special recording of a VE Day speech by ‘Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill’.
